Your student’s safety is a priority at University of the Pacific. Pacific’s Public Safety officers are committed 24/7 to maintaining a safe and secure environment on campus and in near-by neighborhoods. However, we believe that any community security plan is most effective when it is a joint responsibility of our officers, students, faculty and staff.
By following these simple tips, your student can contribute to maintaining their safety on- and off-campus:
- Be aware of your surroundings
- Know where you are and who is around you
- Have your keys and cell phone at the ready
- Avoid using drugs or alcohol that could alter your awareness
- Walk with confidence and purpose
- Avoid unknown or suspicious persons
- When going out, travel with a friend or in groups
- Avoid unlit or other dark areas
- On the Stockton Campus, use the STRIPE escort service at night by texting STRIPE to 209.624.8747 or calling Public Safety Dispatch at 209.946.2537.
- Report suspicious situations to law enforcement immediately.
In case of emergency or to report something suspicious, your student can contact Pacific’s Public Safety officers through a network of Blue Light Phones placed indoors and outdoors throughout the campus. On or near the campus, they can also call these numbers:
- Non-emergency: 209.946.2537
- Emergency: 209.946.3911
When off-campus in Stockton, your student should contact the Stockton Police Department directly:
- Non-emergency: 209.937.8377
- Emergency: 911
There are many programs on Pacific campus to promote safety. To become more familiar with these services, read our recent portal story “Pacific’s Public Safety Officers Are Committed to Safety and Security of Your Student.”
